After losing their home invitational last year to rival Circleville,
Logan Elm reclaimed the title by edging the Tigers 361-334 over the
weekend.
"This was a great team effort," LE coach Jan Hurd said. "Everyone
contributed and every point was important in the end."
The Braves were led by Daniel Gifford winning at 130 pounds with a
perfect 7-0 mark.
Gifford was also named the tournament's MVP.
"Daniel is a good wrestler and a good guy," Hurd said. "He doesn't get
recognized a lot but this is his first MVP.
Even though CHS finished second, the Tigers managed to take
championships at 135 with Russell McFadden and heavyweight with Cory
Davis.
Amanda-Clearcreek's Max Noll collected an invitational title in the
103-pound weight class.
Finishing second for the Braves were: Corey Johnson (103); Dustin
Dexter (171) and Justin Duehren (215).
Logan Elm had Thomas Bohrer (140); Jeff Evans (145); and Josh Kempton
(152) all finish in third.
For Circleville, Martin Crawford (112); Daniel Widmayer (140); Mike
Roeder (160) and Terry Ford (189) finish in second.
Curtis Valentine (119) and Matt Dennis (171) finished third in their
weight classes for the Tigers.
Amanda-Clearcreek finished seventh in the tournament with 169 points.
Tim Markowski (112, 3rd); and Colt Hastings (125, 2nd) also managed to
place for
A-C.
