Phil Peloquin – Coach
Coach Phil Peloquin has been a valuable asset to the Mid State League Track and Field, and Cross Country. He has been the head track coach for Logan Elm High School for 35 years, and started the Logan Elm Cross-Country program and has been the head coach for 32 years.
In Cross-Country, he has won 3 Mid State League titles, 2 District Titles, has taken 3 teams to the State Cross-Country meet and 7 individuals with 3 runners earning All State Honors, and has taken the first team in the history of Logan Elm in all sports to the State Tournament.
His greatest success however has come in Track and Field. He has qualified 68 Athletes to the State Track Meet and has had 13 All State athletes. He has won one Central District Title. Combined in the boys and girls, he has won 12 Mid State League Titles.
His most amazing Stat: From 1985-1993 he went undefeated in the Mid State League Championships winning 9 consecutive boys MSL titles. He has coached over 160 All League Athletes in Track alone. In 1997 Coach Peloquin was inducted into the Mid State League Hall of Fame.
What sets him aside however, is his personality and his love for the sport. He has had 26 members of his track teams over the years go on to become coaches. In fact, his entire coaching staff for the past four years is made up of former athletes of his.
After teaching and coaching at LEHS for 35 years, Phil is now an adjunct Professor in English at Ohio Christian University, teaching in the AIM program. Married to Sherrie Bumgarner Peloquin for 35 years, have a daughter, Brienne, who is a PTA, and a son, Brandon, who works for the National Weather Service at Dulles Airport. I have one grandchild, Blake age 7, and another due in February. My plans are to keep teaching, play a lot with my grandsons, golf and read a lot (along with whatever my wife has for me to do). I am truly very honored for my selection into the LEHS Hall of Fame, joining my buddies Michael Hartley and Eric Karshner, and so many other people helped make this honor possible. Logan Elm is a great place to spend 35 years of my life!
Phil Evans – Award of Merit
I have always been a Logan Elm Brave! I graduated in1980 from LEHS where I participated in the football and basketball programs. I value my experience from LEHS athletics and enjoyed every aspect of it. The discipline, competition and success, along with the disappointments, made me a better person. As an alumnus and father, I love to see kids grow, mature and take pride in themselves, their team and their school. It is through this belief that has made me want to support the athletic programs at Logan Elm.
